Electric mobility
The 32nd Electric Vehicle Symposium (EVS), held this year between May 19th and 22nd, is one of the key platforms for the exchange of information regarding electric mobility. The symposium drew about 1,500 exhibitors and 5,000 visitors from all over the world to Lyon, France.
Topics discussed included the options of combining different modes of transport, which alternative drive technologies are to be used in the future, and the potential contributions of autonomous driving. "Effective climate protection demands that we use all climate-friendly technologies available, be it battery-electric drives or fuel cell technology. We need to further improve international cooperation and must not lose any time in realising our targets," explained Winfried Hermann, Baden-Württemberg Minister of Transport, speaking at the event.
Many renowned companies, organisations and initiatives used the symposium’s exhibition to present their innovative products and concentrated know-how in new and smart mobility solutions at the German Pavilion (Hall 6, F15).
With eight exhibitors, the South-West of Germany was strongly represented at the joint stand. The exhibitors from Baden-Württemberg included several partners of the Cluster Electric Mobility South-West, among them EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg, the Krempel Group, Mann + Hummel, the High Performance Center "Profilregion Mobilitätssysteme Karlsruhe", and the Stuttgart Region Economic Development Corporation (WRS). They all showed their latest developments and solutions ‘Made in Baden-Württemberg’.
Represented by the State Agency for Electric Mobility, e-mobil BW, and Baden-Württemberg International, the Agency for International Economic and Scientific Cooperation, the State of Baden-Württemberg used the EVS as a venue to advance international networking. At the German pavilion, e-mobil BW presented the cluster initiatives Electric Mobility South-West and Fuel Cell BW as well as the AllFraTech projects "InnoTherMS", "EMCC" and "SmartLoad". e-mobil BW also contributed to the conference programme: Stefan Büchele talked about international cooperation, and Katja Gicklhorn, together with Amelie Ewert from the German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt, DLR), presented the first results of an analysis of the potential of micro and lightweight vehicles.

The International Electric Vehicle Symposium & Exhibition (EVS) is one of the world's largest events in the electromobility sector. Since 1969, the EVS has been held every 12 to 18 months alternately in Asia, Europe and North America and has evolved into a leading international platform and networking event dedicated to electric mobility. In 2017, the EVS30, held in Stuttgart, Germany, was the venue for 9,500 experts in electric mobility from 58 countries, with e-mobil BW being one of the organisers of the event.
