At the opening of the Automotive Supplier's Day on Friday, 9th November 2018 in Esslingen, Dr. Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut, Minister of Economic Affairs, Labour and Housing of the State of Baden-Württemberg, emphasised the role of suppliers within the industry's current transformation process.
"Tomorrow's mobility offers many market and growth opportunities that we in Baden-Württemberg should seize. The quest for new application options and supplementary technologies plays a key role in particular for the suppliers which greatly contribute to the success of the automotive industry in our state."
Successful strategies in times of transformation
With a workforce of more than 150,000, automotive suppliers represent the greatest proportion of the automotive industry in Baden-Württemberg, with automobile manufacturers taking second place. Cooperation and networking are steadily gaining in importance during the transformation process. The network represented by the Automotive Supplier's Day Baden-Württemberg has been inspiring important developments for 20 years. On 9th November 2018, as part of the Strategic Dialogue for the Automotive Industry in Baden-Württemberg, the network presented itself in a new format and with an international focus.
At the 2018 Supplier's Day, about 250 participants gained interesting insights into the methods employed by the companies adjusting their strategies to the current transformation. They also learned about current relevant trends and framework conditions. Presentations were given by, among others, the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), MAHLE, Gehring Technologies and the University of Stuttgart.
